About Liaocheng City:

Liaocheng, also known as the "Water City", is a city with a rich historical importance. Located in Northern China along the Grand Canal, it borders both Henan and Hebei provinces. Liaocheng has a population of 6.04 million and covers 8715 square kilometers. With 8 counties (county-level cities and districts), one state-level economic and technological development zone, one high-tech industrial development zone, and one tourism and resort zone, Liaocheng is renowned as a city with a vibrant culture, a booming economy, and an admirable outlook on sanitation and environmental conservation.

A Short Introduction about the Conference

Liaocheng city is hosting an event meant to facilitate a connection between key local Chinese businesses and international foreign experts. Liaocheng is an emerging, ecologically friendly, industrial city that is rapidly emerging as a top location in China for key industries.

In order to facilitate this connection, the Liaocheng municipal government along with Shandong Department of Science and Technology would like to announce this important event, which can offer mutual benefits to all participating parties.

The Purpose of the Conference

1. Promote cooperation between foreign experts and the local companies

2. Discuss specific local business-related issues which could be resolved by foreign expertise

3. Identify specific projects able to be contracted out to foreign experts and enterprises

4. Launch a platform from which best practices for creative problem-solving methods can be shared

5. Foster an open policy of cooperation for future opportunities

Application and Process

This conference will invite 60 global experts in general management, as well as technological expertise in the specific industries noted below. More than 200 local Chinese companies will be in attendance with the intention of identifying an expert resource to help them solve their specific business-related issues.

It should be noted that this conference is by invitation only. Experts are able to make themselves eligible for selection by submitting their resume and completed foreign expert competence form. After you have submitted your necessary paperwork and receive the invitation letter from the government, you must work to secure a travel visa.

Once your visa has been approved and you have sent back a signed invitation letter, your place at the conference has been officially reserved. (In the case of any unforeseen difficulties, i.e. sickness, scheduling conflicts, or other events, you will be responsible for bearing the costs of the trip including but not limited to: marketing materials, interpreters, airfare and hotel cancellation fees).

All conference related fees, including international round-trip economic airfare (any upgrades requested will be covered by the foreign expert themselves), hotel accommodations (in Beijing Nov. 12, Nov. 15 and in Liaocheng Nov. 13, Nov. 14, local in-country transportation and meals during the conference would be covered expenses. (any reimbursement outside of the terms above is at the discretion of Foreign HR, and will be reimbursed in Chinese RMB (Yuan).

Each expert will be provided with an interpreter and a vendor booth whereby they can share their expertise, projects, and the company/institution’s marketing materials. Local Chinese companies and their representatives will either schedule a meeting time or stop by your booth to introduce their specific needs and discuss any potential for further cooperation.

We ask that you provide us with your one-page CV/resume and a filled out foreign experts profile and core competencies form.

If you have any potential projects you want to bring to China, please list them in the document.

Additional Information

1. Government Approval

Liaocheng government will pre-approve all foreign experts, pre-match your skills with local companies, and provide feedback ASAP.

2. Hotel, meals, costs

Please note: Event organizers reserve the right to change or alter the schedule due to weather conditions or other unforeseen events. You will be notified in a timely fashion of any modifications.

We will welcome you at Beijing International Airport according to your flight information. Upon your arrival, we will drive you to your hotel in Beijing. It will take about one hour depending on traffic.

Once you arrive, look for the people holding Liaocheng Expert Conference sign; we will wait for you outside of customs at the Airport, if you cannot find us, please stay in one place at end of welcoming line, as we will find you!

Costs incurred by you include, but are not limited to: your passport fee, visa fee, insurance fee, airport transportation fee, parking at your home airport, souvenirs, and anything else outside of sponsored event.

3. Sample Schedule

Day 1 (Nov. 12)

Your flight from your current country of residence to Beijing, pick-up service at Beijing International Airport, and hotel check-in in Beijing

Day 2 (Nov. 13)

Beijing to Liaocheng

Your trip via fast train from Beijing to Jinan, Shandong province (1.5 hours) and bus ride from Jinan to Liaocheng (1.5 hours).

18:30: Government Reception Dinner

Day 3 (Nov. 14)

9:00: Opening Ceremony

10:00: Company Match Discussions

12:00: Lunch

13:30: Further match discussion and company visits

15:30: Liaocheng City tour

18:00: Dinner

Day 4 (Nov. 15)

8:00: Breakfast and return to Beijing (same Hotel from first night)

Please note:

If a local company wishes to hold further discussions with a foreign expert, same-day transportation via train back to Beijing from the nearest city in Jinan will be organized (travel time will be 1.5 hours by car from Liaocheng to the Jinan train station and 1.5 hours from Jinan train station to Beijing).

Day 5 (Nov. 16)

Late afternoon: Experts will be taken to Beijing International Airport for their departure.
