Job Profile:

We seek an experienced and outstanding English teacher to join our excellent English team. We offer a General English program based on the American English Core Curriculum. It is a three-year program to develop student’s English language arts skills. There is a focus on strategies for English Language Learners in the areas of writing, speaking, listening, and reading. Experience of, and expertise in, teaching in an American English Curriculum will be an advantage, as will having experience in teaching English Language Arts, to include literature and grammar. You will be a highly effective, dynamic and collaborative teacher, able to inspire our incredible students with a genuine commitment to their academic and personal development and make a considerable contribution to our thriving department. The English department is also highly engaged in varied co-curricular opportunities for students and is keen to expand these further. Professional development opportunities are available throughout the school year, both in the field of English teaching and also general education.

Requirements

1. Minimum of two years’ teaching experience at high school level, AP (preferred)

2. Native speakers

3. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree related to English

4. Teaching Certification in the appropriate area or Master of Education (preferred)

Responsibilities

1. English teachers actively instruct students, create lesson plans, assign and correct homework;

2. Manage students in the classroom, communicate with parents, and help students prepare for standardized testing;

3. English teacher job duties can vary significantly between grade levels. For example, English teachers may need to help students prepare for graduation and college entry exams;

4. Bestowing students with problem-solving skills is one of the many duties of a English teacher;

5. Creates an environment of mutual respect and understanding, manages students’ behaviour

6. Attend parent conferences;

7. Contribute to extra-curricular activities, school events.
